Norman “Gene” Shafer, age 74, joined his heavenly father, sons, granddaughter, and many other loved ones who were waiting for his arrival in heaven, early Tuesday morning, January 28, 2020.
Born on November, 12, 1946, in Caldwell, WV, Gene was a proud Arizona resident, native West Virginian, and veteran.
A devoted and dedicated man of God and family, he was loved, treasured, and respected by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by sons, Michael Andrew Shafer of Lewisburg, WV, and Monty Gene Shafer of Cave Creek, AZ; a granddaughter, Mikala Smith of Lancaster, PA; and parents, Earl and Faye Shafer of Caldwell.
He is survived by his most cherished and loved wife of 46 years, Carolyn Agee Shafer of Peoria, AZ; one daughter, Misty Smith (Jason) of York, PA; three grandsons, Devin Shafer of New Orleans, LA, and Nicholas and Jace Smith of York; five granddaughters, Amanda, Ashlie, Kiersten, and Haley Shafer of Peoria, and Brandy Parsons of Greenbrier County, WV; two great-grandchildren, Gideon Shafer of Peoria and Lilith Adkins of Greenbrier County; two brothers, Bill Shafer (Lila) of Caldwell and Michael Shafer (Pam) of Wayne, WV; along with several nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Gene’s life will be at a later date.
Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg submitted the obituary.
