Leo Verlie Butler, 82, of Rupert, WV, passed on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at his home.
Born on March 14, 1937, in Blue Sulphur Springs, WV, he was the son of John and Lena Hiser Butler.
He married the love of his life in 1959. He was a great father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was “Papaw” to all his grandkids.
He was a retired superintendent after having served 32 years with the WV Division of Highways.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; and a grandson, James Hanson.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Clark Butler; daughters, Judy Queen, Sandra Jones (James), and Peggy Blair; sons, Jeff Butler (Ada), Rocky Butler (Holly), Bruce Butler, and Michael Butler; brother, John Butler; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m., with Pastor John Groves officiating.
