GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – Kelly Kemp is thrilled to be running for Family Court Judge of Greenbrier and Monroe counties.
Kemp has been practicing law in West Virginia for 33 years. She graduated from the WVU College of Law in 1990 and moved to Hinton, where she engaged in the general practice of law in several counties, including Greenbrier and Monroe. In 1996, Kelly moved with her family to Greenbrier County, where she served as the Attorney for the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement for 28 years. She would be honored to continue this public service for children and families as Family Court Judge.
She has dedicated her career to family law. Kelly knows that Family Court can be a difficult place to be, where people go to get divorced and settle matters of child custody and child support. Domestic violence cases are also heard in Family Court. Kemp knows that Family Court can be a stressful environment, and she recognizes the importance of treating the parties with dignity and respect.
As the Attorney for the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement, Kelly has represented the State of West Virginia in family court cases for almost 30 years. As a representative of the state, she has remained neutral and impartial, qualities that are essential for a Family Court Judge. Her years in Family Court have helped her develop a disposition that puts the parties at ease.
Kemp has spent thousands of hours in Family Court hearings and has prepared thousands of court orders. She has the experience, knowledge, and temperament to be an exceptional Family Court Judge, as well as compassion and understanding for the people who appear in Family Court. She is eager to serve the people of Greenbrier and Monroe counties with fairness and efficiency.
Judicial races are nonpartisan and are decided in the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 14. Early voting begins on May 1.
