LOGAN COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia State Police are investigating a homicide in Logan County, one man, Darius James Stanton of Columbus, Ohio, has been arrested.
A statement from WVSP states, “On Oct. 13, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Trooper Z. K. Bragg responded to a single-vehicle accident in the Ethel area of Logan County on WV Route 17. While en route, Trooper Bragg was advised the driver of the vehicle had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdominal area.”
According to the statement, the victim was identified as “42-year-old Walter Webster Elmore of Logan,” who was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Additionally, WVSP says, “The investigation revealed the shooting occurred at a residence in the Ethel area of Logan County. Troopers identified the shooter as 23-year-old Darius James Stanton of Columbus, Ohio.
“Stanton was located and arrested following a traffic stop on Pond Fork Road in Boone County, WV. Stanton was processed at the WVSP Logan Detachment and transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail. The status of this investigation remains active and ongoing.”
Stanton is currently in South Western Regional Jail, no bail is listed at the time of writing.
