Charles Everette Massie, 86, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.
Charlie was born on December 14, 1932, in Ronceverte, WV, and was the son of Layton Simpson and Margaret Pearl Dilley Massie.
Mr. Massie was a member of Shuck Memorial Baptist Church, a graduate of Greenbrier High School, and attended Concord College and Bluefield State College. He was a member of the Greenbrier Masonic Lodge #42, a Shriner, and former member of Elks Lodge #1758. Charlie was a retired sales engineer with ABB and was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean war. His biggest passion was the American Heritage Music Hall, which he cofounded. Charlie’s love for music made him very adept in making stringed instruments. He loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid photographer.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harvey Massie; and brother, James Massie.
Surviving are his sons, Chris and Janette Massie of Coldspring, TX, and Mike and Tammy Massie of Abingdon, VA; grandson, Ross Massie of Abingdon; great-granddaughter, Morgan Ross Massie of Abingdon; brothers, Billy Massie of Lewisburg, Alton Massie of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Ronnie Massie of St. Augustine, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Massie will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
