Douglas Grey Hylton, 63, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, of a sudden illness.
Doug was born January 28, 1956, in Ronceverte, and was a son of the late Charles Clayton and Ramah Hinkle Hylton of Ronceverte.
Doug was a gifted grant writer for the city of Ronceverte, Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs, Rainelle, and various other organizations. He proudly served 13 years in the United States Air Force as an intelligence officer, becoming a Silver Star recipient. Doug was a graduate of Hampton Sydney University with a Bachelor’s Degree in political science, as well as Charleston SC University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree and Business Degree in administration.
He was preceded in death by sister, Alice Christina.
He is survived by brother, Charles (Linda) of Ronceverte; twin brother, Denzil Ray of Haw River, NC; sisters, Cheryl Ramsey of Ronceverte and Pamela Massey (Johnny) of Fort Springs, WV; several nieces and nephews; and the true love of his life, the city of Ronceverte.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea, WV, with Pastor Stephen Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lewisburg, WV.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Premier Bank to the “Doug Hylton Memorial” in his memory.
