James Clinton Hoke, 79, of Connersville, IN, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 28, 1939, in Second Creek, WV, and is the son of Jabin Hoke and Annie Suzan King Hoke.
In 1963, he married Betty Jane Jones in Virginia. Together they shared 36 years of marriage before she passed on February 3, 1999.
James had worked at D&M until it closed. He also cut and delivered wood. He was a hard worker and always tried to provide the best for his family. He loved being outdoors, es
pecially fishing. He was constantly tinkering with things, trying to make them better. James was well liked and a very friendly and joking person.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Griffin (Jimmy), of Connersville; a sister, Elizabeth Black, of Lebanon, IN; three grandchildren, Becca Parsley, of Connersville, Nikki Napier (Isaiah), of Connersville, and James Griffin; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Gage Roberts, Kolton Griffin, Kody Griffin, M.J. Griffin, Preston Hudson, Heaven Hudson, Landen Hudson, Adri Griffin, and Baby Jacob Napier on the way.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Howard, and Roger Hoke; a sister, Linda Hoke; a grandson, Luke Griffin; a granddaughter, Melissa Isaacs; and a great-grandchild, Jaiden Griffin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Forrest Run Community Holiness Church in West Virginia. Dinner will follow the service, and covered dishes will be appreciated.
