SNOWMELT FEST EVENT WEEKEND

Saturday, March 2 through Sunday, March 3, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Snowmelt Fest features entertainment for all ages including the highly anticipated return of the Pond Skim and the Cardboard Classic sled race. The Cardboard Classic kicks off the fest on Saturday, March 2. Registration opens from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Mountain House, with the race starting at 2 p.m. Teams of two are invited to build their sled using only cardboard and duct tape. Decorations such as paint and stickers are permitted, but no metal or plastic additions are allowed on the sled’s bottom. No lift ticket is required for this event. Winterplace will organize guests into heats with a first-place winner and prize for the crowd favorite. This event takes place in the snowtubing park. Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing party.

On Saturday, March 2, Winterplace is bringing back its favorite Pond Skim event after a decade long hiatus. Skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to show off their skills by crossing the pond in their best costumes. The challenge is to skim across the pond from the lowest point on the mountain. Each participant will receive a commemorative Snowmelt Fest t-shirt. One grand prize winner will receive a pair of Line Blade Skis (valued at $899) and the second-place winner will receive a Wild & Wonderful Pass (for $25 off lift tickets next season).

Participation in the Cardboard Classic Race is free, and the Pond Skim Race is free with lift ticket. Additionally, spectators can enjoy various food options from food trucks, including Aurora Coffee & More, Bayou Classics, and Sunnyside, available throughout the weekend.
