Page Montgomery Murphy
Page Montgomery Murphy, 80, passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2024, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
Page was born February 20th, 1943, in Ronceverte; the daughter of Guy B and Ginny Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Harry Worrell of Salem, VA.
Page is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Murphy; daughter, Ginger Worrell of Salem, VA; sons, Brent Nash (Stephanie) of Clifton, VA, and Christopher Nash (Amy) of Ronceverte, WV; grandchildren, Alex Worrell, Jamie Pagan, Sam Worrell, Hope Nash, Keenan Nash, Liam Nash, Julia Nash, and Alexis Barfield; sister, Gail Marshall (Bill Tilson) of Lewisburg, WV; nieces, Mary Page Nemcik (Joey) and Lucy Taylor (Ray); great nieces, Hallie and Coriann Nemcik, Abby Taylor; and great nephew, Zackary Taylor.
Page graduated from Lewisburg High School. She was a nursery schoolteacher at Old Stone Church for years, when her kids were little. She always felt happiness by seeing others happy and ventured into the restaurant business with Zapp’s located at the Old Mall. That business eventually turned into Food & Friends, which she truly gave her whole life to. Any given day, you would see Page walking around Lewisburg with her sidekick, Reilly. She loved planting and growing flowers, trees, shrubs, and about anything else she could fit in her yard or flowerpots at the restaurant. That was truly a loved passion. No weed was safe, if Page was around.
So many people were special to Page, from her girl’s lunch to her staff. She always loved to see smiling faces, and she was the first one to give you a smile and ask if you were happy.
Jeff Thomas was such a special friend to Page. We hope you know her appreciation and love for you.
Eva Waid was Page’s main caregiver for years, since Page broke her hip. She became everything Page needed in a constant companion. She made every day for Page a little bit better, safer, and happier. We could not have asked for a kinder person. We will always think of you as family.
To the ladies at Peyton Hospice House, you have truly found your calling. We are forever grateful for your compassion and kindness.
Page lived a full and happy life. She was always the life of the party and everyone’s friend. She loved long days at the beach in North Carolina and long evenings on the back porch with good friends, family, food, and drinks. She loved her children with her whole heart and wanted a world of happiness for them.
A memorial service for Page will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Peyton Hospice House at 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV, 24901.
