SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV- The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans made quick work of the South Charleston Lady Black Eagles on Thursday, Dec. 21 when they rolled into Kanawha County with one thing on their mind: Win the game.
East had just defeated Riverside two nights prior by 40 points, so they were feeling fairly well about themselves, and the score in this one was almost identical. East went up 36-12 at halftime and cruised to a 73-27 victory.
Ava Workman led the Spartans with 15, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Kennedy Stewart had a nice all-around game and finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals, and Hannah Fuller finally got back into the double-figure party with 11 points to go along with 5 rebounds and two blocks. Also, Mackenna McClure continued her solid play with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
South Charleston struggled all game with turnovers as the Spartans forced them into 33 miscues. The Eagles also shot just 21 percent.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 26 in the Holiday Tournament at Spartan Gym. East will play Berkeley Springs at 7:00 PM in game two of the evening. The first game will feature Greenbrier West and Wyoming East at 5:00 PM.
