ALLEGHANY COUNTY Va. (WVDN) Two individuals, including one from Lewisburg West Virginia, were recently arrested during a traffic stop on I-64 in Alleghany County, Virginia. The Alleghany Sheriff’s Department released the following statements:
“On December 14, 2023, Alleghany County Deputy R.E. Fischer initiated a traffic stop on I-64 at 15.6 mile marker westbound.
“Upon investigation, 46 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine, digital scales, a glass smoking device, two firearms and $3,287 in cash were seized.
“Arrested were James A. Strother, age 50, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Pepper M. Messick, age 47, of Lewisburg, West Virginia. Strother is charged with two counts of manufacture/distribute Schedule I/II drugs – third offense, possession of unauthorized paraphernalia, possession of firearm by nonviolent felon > 10 years, and display firearm while in possession of Schedule I/II drugs. Messick is charged with possession with two counts of intent to distribute Schedule I/II drugs, and possession of unauthorized paraphernalia.
“Both are currently held at Alleghany Regional Jail without bond.
“Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Fischer was assisted by Sgt. P.M. Lewis, Cpl. E.L Soto and Covington Police Department Officer J.R. Tolley and K-9 Unit Bear.”
