WVU fans traveling to Duke’s Mayo Bowl will be greeted with events, Mountaineer spirit in Charlotte

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WVDN) — The West Virginia University Alumni Association, Mountaineer Athletic Club, WVU Foundation and WVU Athletics are partnering to host events for fans attending the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The WVU football team will take on the University of North Carolina Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Bank of America Stadium.

Tuesday, Dec. 26
Join fellow Mountaineers the night before the game from 5-8 p.m. for a meet-and-greet at the game watch home of the Charlotte Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association, Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, 911 East Morehead Street, Charlotte.

Fans can enjoy food and beverage specials and participate in the Mountaineer Sports Network Bowl Radio Show live broadcast hosted by WVU play-by-play announcer Tony Caridi and featuring MSN personalities Jed Drenning, Dwight Wallace and John Antonik.

Wednesday, Dec. 27
On game day, alumni, friends and fans are invited to join fellow Mountaineers for the WVU Duke’s Mayo Bowl Pre-Game Party from
12:30-4 p.m. at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, hosted by the Alumni Association’s Charlotte Chapter.

Tickets to this special tailgate event will include WVU giveaways, tailgate foods, beverages and a performance by “The Pride of West Virginia,” the Mountaineer Marching Band. This event is expected to sell out. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online.

The Mountaineer Marching Band, WVU cheerleaders and Mountaineer mascot will make a special appearance at 2 p.m. Shuttles from the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille to Bank of America Stadium will begin two hours prior to kickoff. Shuttles will resume service at the beginning of the fourth quarter and continue for 75 minutes after the game.

Parking will be available for both events on a first come, first served basis in the lot adjacent to the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille and in the parking deck located at 831 East Morehead Street.

Kickoff for the Mountaineers and the Tar Heels at Bank of America Stadium is set for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN.

The Mountaineer Ticket Office announced all priority ticket requests for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl have been fulfilled with the best available tickets in the WVU allotment based on Mountaineer Athletic Club priority. General public tickets are available through Ticketmaster and parking passes are also available to fans traveling to the game.

For Mountaineer fans heading to the game, the WVU Alumni Association, WVU Athletics and the Mountaineer Athletic Club are partnering to offer a hotel-only package with OnLocation, the official travel partner. The travel package includes two-night accommodations in downtown Charlotte within walking distance of Bank of America Stadium.
