MOOREFIELD, WV- Greenbrier West ran well and ran often in their impressive 63-16 regular season finale victory over the Moorefield Yellowjackets on Friday night, Nov. 3.

The Cavaliers led 21-0 after the first quarter and doubled that to 42-0 at halftime. West also scored 21 more in the third quarter before allowing Moorefield to get a couple harmless scores in the fourth and final period.

Running for over 300 yards as a team, Jake Pate solidified his 1,000-plus yard season with 164 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Pate also ran a kickoff back 95 yards which tied a school record. It took Isaac Agee just eight carries to churn out 104 yards and he too found the end zone three times. Cole Vandall (4-of-6, 83 yds, TD) broke his string of five straight games with at least three TD passes, but he did toss a 33-yarder to Tucker Lilly in the first quarter. Lilly finished with three receptions for 75 yards.

Vinson Vaughan capped the Cavalier scoring with a 1-yard plunge late in the third.

With the win, Greenbrier West finished unblemished with a 10-0 record on the season. They will face Wirt County in the playoffs this Friday night, November 10 at 7:30 PM. The Cavs are the 4th seed and Wirt Co. is the 13th.

As always, expect a full recap and some playoff previews from Michael Goddard online this week.
