FAIRLEA, WV- The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans soccer team picked up an 8-0 shutout victory over Nicholas County on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Spartan Field.

East recognized eight seniors before the game: Myrna Hamilton, Bailey Nicely, Claire Parker, Rylee Carver, Kaylee Wiant, Laurel Blankenship, Alyson McManamay, and Gracie Morgan.

The Spartans got the scoring started early and often as junior Ryan White put East up 1-0. McManamay then made it 2-0 and shortly after that score, White scored again. She headed the ball to herself, regathered control and kicked it around the goalkeeper for her second goal of the day.

Nicely and Ella Lewis rounded out the first half scoring.

My’Eshia White put in two goals in the second half and Trinity Perkins capped the day with the final goal.

The Spartans begin sectional play on Tuesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Woodrow Wilson to take on the Eagles. East lost to Woodrow 4-0 back in late August, but the two teams then played a scoreless tie on Sept. 19.

East is 8-7-2 on the season and the Eagles are 9-10-1.
