FAIRLEA, WV- Both the Greenbrier East boys’ and girls’ soccer teams held their senior nights on Tuesday, Oct. 10 and both teams picked up impressive wins in the process.

The girls defeated Pocahontas County 5-0 in the first game of the double-header while the boys took care of the Warriors 10-0 in the nightcap.

Ava Workman put the girls up 1-0 and from that point forward, it was all Lady Spartans. Alyson McManamay made it 2-0, then Claire Parker put two consecutive shots in the net to close out the first half. McNanamay scored her second goal late in the game to seal the win for East.

The boys’ jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half behind goals from Ian Gadd (Dawson Trusty assist), Noah Edwards, Yeison Estrada (Edwards assist) and Jose Nunez (August Vincent assist). Then, the Spartans exploded even more in the second half when they outscored Pocahontas 6-0. In that half, Dylan Depriest-Thompson (Trusty assist), Gadd, Jacob Grim, Nixon Brown (Grim assist), and Estrada (two more goals, assists by Edwards and Evan Clinebell) scored relentlessly. Estrada finished with a hat trick.
