James Monroe boys’ basketball coach Matt Sauvage received a prestigious honor and was named the 2022 NFHS boys’ basketball coach of the year on Monday, Oct. 2.
Last season, the Mavericks went 25-2 and won their second consecutive state championship.
Sauvage, who doubles as the Greenbrier East volleyball coach, was totally humbled by the honor.
“Thankful to receive the award, very much honored. But the award definitely goes to my coaches (Corey Miller and Todd Lusk) along with my players from the last year and the years before. They are just as much a part of this award as I am,” Sauvage stated.
