CHARMCO- The Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers made the most of their senior night on Thursday, April 25 when they defeated the Pikeview Lady Panthers 11-1 in five innings.
After honoring their two seniors, Hannah Sweet and Julia Herndon, before the game, the Cavs got down to business and helped send their upperclassmen out on a winning note in the regular season finale.
Greenbrier West scored four runs in the second and piled up five more in the bottom of the fourth to ice the game.
Sophomore Brilee Redden went 1-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Kenna Fields went a perfect 1-1 with a 2-run single in that big fourth inning. She also scored a run.
Kyndall Taylor started the game for the Cavs and pitched three innings and gave up just one run and had four strikeouts. Redden relieved her in the fourth and threw two innings and struck out four.
Greenbrier West is the Class A Region 3, Section 2 no. 1 seed and will open sectional play on Tuesday, April 30 and face the winner of (5) Richwood and (4) Webster County.
The WVDN will have a full recap of that game on our website, and it will be posted to Facebook on Tuesday night.
