BEAVER W.Va. (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College proudly presents the Sixth Annual New River CTC Invitational! This highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place Jan. 2-6, 2024, and will bring together the co-ed basketball talent from local middle schools and high schools in a display of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.

Hosted by New River CTC, the tournament has become a tradition of the community and serves as the largest fundraising event for the college. The Invitational will be held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, promising an exciting atmosphere and providing an economic boost to the City of Beckley and surrounding areas.

This year, the tournament will be featuring some new additions to the schedule with local middle school teams. The following team will be participating in the tournament:

The exciting mix of teams from middle schools and high schools creates a platform for players of all ages to showcase their talent and determination. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy food, entertainment, and interactive activities, as well as an opportunity to support and celebrate the students and their potential. 

As part of New River CTC’s commitment to education, the New River CTC Foundation awards more than $125,000 annually in scholarships. The event also assists participating schools’ athletic departments and Project Graduation committees by awarding $1,000 to the “Most Outstanding Cheering Section.”

“Year after year, the Invitational showcases the remarkable talent within our community and emphasizes the values of teamwork and sportsmanship,” said Michael Green, Chief of Staff and Vice President of External Affairs. “We are excited to provide a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their talent on the court while also providing connections and support that extend beyond the game.”
