WILLIAMSBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its fifth annual Back Home Festival on Sept. 2 from 1-10:30 p.m. Ben Hersman’s and Sons of the Mountain starts the festivities at 1 p.m. followed by Appalachian Countdown, Thomas Taylor Band and Greener Pastures.
Additional vendors of arts and crafts are wanted, anyone interested needs to contact Shirley Winfrey at 304-667-8041, LauraAnn at 304-661-5592 or email WilliamsburgVFD@hotmail.com.
Last year, the crowd enjoyed a beautiful day for all the festivities in mid September with music from Richie Holiday, Erin Green, Appalachian Countdown, Thomas Taylor and Stockyard Parade. Considered a huge success, the fire department is excited to offer another full day of fun this year.
Shade is provided by large tents and the vending sites are all just a few steps away from any seat. There is no charge for attendance, all proceeds go to the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
There is ample parking as well as primitive camping (cost $20 with no hookups). Attendees can also bring their own pop-up tents to set their chairs under.
During the day there will also be a gun raffle, a food auction, a rock climbing wall, redneck horseshoe competition, ukulele street singer, a fire dancer, a Paint by Sandy class ($25) and a wool spinning demonstration.
Everyone enjoyed the fresh grilled chicken introduced last year, so it will be there again with homemade potato salad, homemade baked beans, dip and dots ice cream, nacho and chips (loaded), cotton candy and ice cold sodas provided by the fire department and local clubs.
The WVFD wants to thank not only the musicians, vendors, volunteers, anyone who has helped in any way as well as all those who come to celebrate the day with the fire department.
This year’s festival is expected to be more fantastic food, fun, music and venders with arts and crafts.
