FAIRLEA, WV- Surrounded by coaches and family, Greenbrier East’s second team all-state player Darris Boswell has officially inked his signature to paper and signed with the WVU Tech Golden Bears baseball program.
The Golden Bears are coached by Larwence Nesselrodt, and last season finished 19-28.
This past season at Greenbrier East, Boswell led the Spartans with a .400 batting average and also led the team with 42 hits. He scored 30 runs, good for a tie for third and had 23 RBIs, also third on his team.
When on the pitching mound, Boswell threw 51.2 innings and had a record of 3-5. He had 42 strikeouts.
On why he chose WVU Tech over other options, Boswell said the following:
“I’m excited about the opportunity to stay in my home state and play ball close to home. I believe WVU Tech has a good baseball program, and I’m able to have an opportunity to play the sport I love. I also like the atmosphere the campus provides,” Boswell said.
Boswell will enroll in at his next stop next month.
