ALDERSON, W.Va. (WVDN) – The restoration of the Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion, a local landmark located about 9 miles from Alderson on Blue Sulphur Road, will be celebrated with a formal dedication ceremony on Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m.
The Friends of the Blue Committee, under the sponsorship of the Greenbrier Historical Society (GHS), has been diligently working to restore the Pavilion since it was donated by Rebecca Fleshman Lineberry in 2013. The committee, led by chair Alex McLaughlin and members Cathy Bolt, Irma Smith Cadle, William “Skip” Deegans, Margaret Hambrick and Ray and Lynn Tuckwiller, has received support from various organizations and individuals across the country.
“We are thrilled to see this dream come true,” said Cathy Bolt, daughter of Lineberry.
The restoration project has received assistance from the Division of Arts, Culture, and History, led by Curator Randall Reid-Smith, as well as the State Historic Preservation Office, under the guidance of Deputy Director Susan Pierce. The Mills Group, The James F.B. Peyton Foundation and other funders have also contributed to the project’s success.
The dedication ceremony is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend and be a part of this momentous occasion.
