Anna Ruth Hicks died in Green Sulphur Springs, WV, on Friday, July 14, 2017, after a long illness with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born July 27, 1935, in Green Sulphur Springs, daughter of Louella Welch Hicks and Earl Henry Hicks.
Anna Ruth was a graduate of Sandstone High School in Sandstone, WV, was a cum laude graduate of Concord College, and earned her Master of Arts in education from the University of Kentucky. She spent her career teaching business education and business math at Sandstone and Hinton high schools and loved substitute teaching for another 11 years after retirement. She was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church in Lewisburg, WV.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara J. Williams; her nephew, G. Alan Willams and wife, Michelle, and their children, Evan, Julie, Wyatt, and Samantha, all of Huntington, WV; and her niece, Aiyetoro Bakari of Texas and her children, Safiya and Sadiki.
Services will be held at a later date.
