Elaine Burton Pugh, formerly of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Lexington after an extended illness.
As a resident of Lewisburg for over 55 years, she was a deacon and elder of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg.
Elaine Burton Pugh, 12 years of Lexington, KY, and formerly of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Lexington after an extended illness.
As a resident of Lewisburg for over 55 years, she was a deacon and elder of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, board member of Hospice, and a founder of the Greenbrier College Alum Association.
Before ownership of Radio Greenbrier, WRON AM-FM, she was public relations director of Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV.
She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Lexington and the Newcomer’s Club of Central Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Burton of Manhasset, NY, and Luray, VA.
She leaves a sister, Katherine Burton Falcone of Naples, FL, and Nantucket, MA, and brother-in-law, William; a niece, Pamela Falcone Smith and husband, David; a nephew, Douglas Burton Falcone and wife, Sheri; three children, Dianne Pugh Hodge and husband, Joseph, of Alexandria, VA, Deborah Pugh Arbaugh and husband, Steve, of Lexington, and William E. Pugh Jr. and wife, Linda, of Dunbar, WV; grandchildren, Zachary Burton Pugh of Dunbar, Kara Arbaugh Minton and husband, Brian, of Lexington, and William Christopher Arbaugh and wife, Kristin, of Tipp City, OH; and five great-grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, 100 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901, or Second Presbyterian Church, 460 E. Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507.
A small service will be held at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg for family members and friends on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 3 PM.
Milward Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
