Stephen Elmer Sheppard, 77, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA, after a long battle with ALS and bladder cancer.
Born July 31, 1939, at Richlands, WV, he was the son of the late Ira Elmer and Mildred Estella Morgan Sheppard.
Steve had worked for the Bartlett Tree Company, the Chapman Tree Company, Jackson’s Dairy Farm, and lastly, he cleaned and maintained several physician’s offices in the area. He was a member of the Lewisburg Church of Christ.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Sylvia Mae Wickline-Sheppard; daughter, Belinda Sheppard-Weikle (Sam), of Fraziers Bottom, WV; brothers, Allen Sheppard (Charlotte) of Lewisburg and Melvin Sheppard of Lewisburg; sisters, Barbara Crane (Earl) of Frankford, WV, and Mary Morgan (Andy) of Ronceverte, WV; grandchildren, Austin, Mackenzie, and Cassandra Weikle; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Lewisburg Church of Christ with Pastor Adam Blaney officiating. Burial will follow at the Windy Knoll Cemetery in Williamsburg, WV.
Visitation is from 6-8 PM on Monday, June 26, at the Morgan Funeral Home, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to his daughter, Belinda Sheppard-Weikle, 4549 Barton Chapel Road, Fraziers Bottom, WV 25082, to help with the final expenses.
