LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – “Tonight, we are in the company of greatness!”

That’s what Carnegie Hall CEO/President Cathy Rennard told the crowd of students and parents at the 29th annual Creative Youth Juried Art Exhibit awards ceremony and reception on Monday night, March 6.

Rennard congratulated all of the students whose works were submitted by area art teachers, reminding all in attendance that Carnegie Hall is a place for everyone.

“This is your Carnegie Hall,” she told the crowd.

Artwork was submitted from Alderson, Crichton, Frankford, Lewisburg, Rainelle, Ronceverte, Rupert, Smoot and White Sulphur Springs elementary schools, Greenbrier Community School, Eastern and Western Greenbrier middle schools, Greenbrier East and West high schools and the Greenbrier Academy for Girls. The juried show showcased artwork from students in 4th-12th grades.

The winner of the Best in Show was Tova Cherniak for her painting “Our World Divided.” Cherniak attends Greenbrier Academy for Girls.

The winner of the Carnegie’s Choice award was Haley Kincaid of Crichton Elementary for her mixed media piece, “A Joyful Sound.”

The exhibits will hang in the Old Stone Gallery until Friday, March 31.
