The following governmental bodies will hold meetings this week:

The Greenbrier County Planning Commission will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Greenbrier County Courthouse. On the agenda: amendments to the Comprehensive Plan for publication, schedule public hearings, zoning ordinance working session.

The Town of Alderson is holding a meeting about the availability of water services to previously unserved residents in the area on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall for those interested in signing up for the new water service. New areas to be served include all of Glen Ray, Alderson to Creamery to the turkey farm, Alderson to Pence Springs Airport (including all of Riverside Rest), Alderson to Stewart’s on Rt. 63 and Alderson to the first turn going up the hill to Blue Sulphur.

The benefit of attending is saving $200 off the normal tap fee that would apply after the service has run through the area. The fee for tap service is $100, due at the meeting; the normal tap fee is $300. The cost is lower because of the project construction and ease of hookup during the construction.

Any questions will be answered by the engineers from Thrasher Engineering at the meeting.

Mayor Travis Copenhaver said, “This is a huge benefit to the people in the new areas of service. We hope everyone in these areas will come to the meeting, get their questions answered and sign up.”

The Greenbrier County Commission will meet on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. in regular session in room 132 of the Greenbrier County Courthouse. The meeting will be available via livestream at www.facebook.com/gbrcourthouse/. On the agenda: change order on the Meadow River Trail project/MRRT TAP grant, courthouse construction project and more.

The City of Lewisburg Public Safety Committee will meet Friday, Feb. 10, at 8:30 a.m. in the Paul R. Cooley Council Chamber located in Lewisburg City Hall, 942 Washington Street West. On the agenda: police department sergeant promotion and more.
