LEWISBURG (WVDN) – The Greenbrier East Spartans have yet to play a home game but continue to be road warriors as evidenced by their 5-1 record to start this 2023 season.
East is coming off a dramatic, come-from-behind, 74-70 win over the Huntington Highlanders, where they trailed by as many as 18 points in the second quarter only to scratch and claw their way back to victory.
This week, the Spartans moved up into the top five in the Class AAAA rankings and now sit at No. 4.
This Friday, Jan. 13, East will travel to Shady Spring and take on the 5-3 Tigers. Shady is one of the best teams in the entire state, regardless of class, and will present yet another challenge for the boys in green and gold. Shady won the Class AAA state title last year.
Fans will finally get to see the Spartans play on their home court this Saturday night, Jan. 14, when they host the Spring Mills Cardinals, the only team to beat East this year.
