Rachel Marie Dowdy Defibaugh, 68, of Caldwell, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 9, 2016.
Born December 12, 1947, she was the daughter of Mason and Pauline Dowdy.
On May 18, 1963, she married the love of her life, William Thomas Defibaugh.
While raising her family, she was very active in her community and took great pride in the work she did at church. She was an active member of the Caldwell Citizens Committee, a Sunday School teacher at the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church, a World Missions director, and was active in women’s ministry. One of her most important roles was being her grandchildren’s biggest fan, never missing a sports event until she became ill.
She was preceded in death by two children, William and Wayne; her parents, Mason and Pauline Dowdy; brother, Ricky Dowdy; and stepmother, Wanda Dowdy.
Rachel is survived by her husband, William Defibaugh; children, Billy and Patricia Defibaugh, Brian and Margaret Dodd, and Steve and Melissa Defibaugh; grandchildren, Brandon Defibaugh, Ryan and Janet Dodd, Makaila Dodd, Jason Dodd, Layton Dodd, and Shawn Defibaugh; great-grandchildren, Braylin Defi-baugh, Ryland Defibaugh, and soon-to-be Jaxton Dodd; brothers and sisters, Kay Weikle (Billy), Linda Honaker, Bobby Dowdy (Barb), and Rita Dowdy; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Everette “Hat” Defibaugh and Ronnie Saville officiating. Burial will follow in the Adwell Cemetery at Ronceverte, WV.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 11, at the church in Caldwell.
