Walter Lee Blankenship, 79, of Fairlea, WV, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at his home.
Born September 10, 1936, at Renick, WV, he was the son of Luther Marion and Rose May Zimmerman Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship was a retired custodian from Greenbrier County Schools with 27 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Tincher Blankenship; brother, Ernest “Hank” Blankenship; and sister, Marion Jameson.
He is survived by his son, Tim Blankenship and wife, Mary, of Coffman Hill, WV; daughters, Rose Evans of Frankford, WV, and Barbara Elswick and husband, David, of Talcott, WV; grandchildren, Ally Evans and Woodson Blankenship; sisters, Pearl Hollon of Middletown, OH, and Rosemary “Tiny” Wolfe of Franklin, OH; sisters-in-law, Lucille Blankenship, Maxie Trader, Libby Fuller, and Ellen Hamrick; brother-in-law, Richard Tincher; special niece, Jo Holland Fullen; and “adopted” son, Austin Suttle.
Services are scheduled for 3PM Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Emory Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Windy Knoll Cemetery at Williamsburg, WV.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 22, at the funeral home.
