Evelyn Lucille Deskins, 81, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.

Born October 23, 1933, at Ronceverte, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Viola C. Jones Arbaugh.

Mrs. Deskins was a caring and loving homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Union, WV, and was active in the Ladies Aide group in the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Walter M. Deskins; one daughter, Rita Catherine Hill; four brothers, Otey, Curtis, Clifford, and Walter Arbaugh; one sister, Catherine Baker; one stepson, Aaron M. Deskins; and one step-grandson, Remington Anderson. 

Survivors include one daughter, Debra “Debbie” Hill of Baton Rouge, LA; two sons, Edward Curtis “Curt” Hill of Baton Rouge and Dennie H. Hill and wife, Cynthia Janie, of Baton Rouge; four stepdaughters, Lisa Canterbury of Union, Mindy Surgeon and husband, Buddy, of Caldwell, WV, Jill Anderson and husband, Ronnie, of Ronceverte, and Angie Davis and husband, V.J., of Parsons, WV; three brothers, Julian Arbaugh of Lewisburg, WV, Bill Arbaugh and wife, Rose, of Ronceverte, and Earl Arbaugh of Mabscott, WV; one sister, Genny McDowell and husband, Bob, of Clifton Forge, VA; two grandchildren, Jennifer Beth Hill of Baton Rouge and Brandy Hill Brown of Baton Rouge; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Brown and Tyler Brown, both of Baton Rouge; 11 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Mt. Prospect Baptist Church (Knobs Road) in Union with Pastor Todd Baker officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway, WV.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call Friday from 12 PM until time of the services at 2 PM at the church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Kanawha Hospice Care Inc., 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901; Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 210A, Union, WV 24983; or a charity of your choice.
