David Elwin Roberts, 70, of Seattle, WA, formerly of Princeton, WV, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, in Seattle following a long illness.

Born October 11, 1944, in Vernon Hill, VA, he was the son of the late Elwin Hall Roberts and the late Barbara Huffman Roberts Berkley.

Mr. Roberts worked as a social worker for the state of West Virginia, followed by working for State Farm Insurance Company and Radio Shack. He was the owner and operator of Lafayette Electronics in Bluefield, WV, before entering the telecommunications industry as an instructor, first with GTE in Bluefield, then Nortel in Raleigh, NC, from which he retired after 15 years of service.

Mr. Roberts graduated from Bramwell High School and Davis and Elkins College, both in West Virginia. He was a long-time active member of the Princeton Jaycees and supported the West Virginia Junior Miss Pageant in various ways, including having served on its board of directors. Mr. Roberts resided most recently in Seattle.

Survivors include his son, John Justin David Roberts of Charleston, WV; his brother, John Roberts and wife, Betsy, of Bowling Green, OH; sister, Kay Roberts McCoy of Lewisburg, WV; and five nieces and nephews.

Memorial Graveside services and burial will be held Friday, November 14, 2014, at 2 PM at the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson, WV, with the Rev. Stephen Baldwin officiating.

For those considering an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, National Headquarters, 706 Haddonfield Road, Cherry Hill, NY 08002, online at www.mymsaa.org/; or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163, by telephone at 1-800-344-4867, or online at www.nationalms society.org/.

Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson is in charge of arrangements.
