Rocky Duane Evans, 58, of Gap Mills, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Springfield Center at Lindside, WV, following a long illness.
He was born at Pearisburg, VA, on March 10, 1956, a son of the late Newman B. and Alma Campbell Evans.
Mr. Evans was a disabled B.F. Goodrich employee, was a member of Rock Camp Baptist Church and Monroe Lodge #77 AF&AM Masonic Lodge at Union, WV, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Evans and Brownie Evans.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Dowdy Evans of Gap Mills; two sons, Jason Evans and Amber of Gap Mills and Justin Evans and Sabrina of Lindside; four grandchildren, Ashton Evans, Ethan Evans, Eain Evans, and Chance Evans; one step grandson, Blaine Fox; two brothers, Jackie Evans and Ruby of Peterstown, WV, and Glen Evans of Glen Lyn, VA; three sisters, Joan Hines, Minnie Taylor, and Jerry Riffe and Tom, all of Lindside; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Gunter of Lindside and Barbara Evans of Pearisburg; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Revs. Paul Broyles and Jimmy Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow at the Tyler-Mann Cemetery at Greenville, WV.
Friends may call at the funeral home in Union from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 17.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Dillon, Pete Allen, Donald Brown, and Gary, Michael, and J.T. Karnes.
