Alfred W. Taylor Sr. had his homecoming Sunday, September 28, 2014, after a brief illness.

Born June 6, 1929, at Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Mary B. Clark Taylor.

Alfred graduated from Lewisburg High School in Lewisburg, WV, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairlea, WV. He retired in 1985 after 37 years as a customer serviceman with Columbia Gas Company.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Norris, Wilson, Edward, and B.C.; and sisters, Elizabeth, Bessie, Jessie, Doris, and Patty.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Genevieve Bennett Taylor; sons, Alfred W. Taylor Jr. (Linda) and Robert J. Taylor (Millie); grandchildren, Wyatt Taylor (Jennifer), Amanda Heinbaugh (Cory), Angela Schmitt (Andrew), Justin Taylor (Brooke), John Taylor (Samantha), Casandra Taylor, Tevin Taylor, and Melissa Burdette (Eric); and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Luke, and John Taylor, Bryce, Reilly, and Reese Heinbaugh, Aiden, Owen, Ethan, and baby girl Schmitt; Kaine, Greyson, and Adalynn Taylor, Havyn and Keyana Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Hunter and Brentle Flower, and Landon and Atlee Burdette.

Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 11 AM at Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte with Pastor Wyatt Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Fairlea in the fellowship hall following the service.

Donations of sympathy may be made to HospiceCare, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV, 24901.

McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
