James Winfield Scarborough, 76, passed away at his home early in the morning of Thursday, September 11, 2014, after a long illness.

Jim was born June 25, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, the only child of Sally and Walter Scarborough.

Jim and his parents moved to Lewisburg, WV, in 1949. He graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1956. He graduated from WVU School of Pharmacy in 1960 and remained a loyal Mountaineer for life.

Jim began work at Coleman’s Pharmacy; later he owned and operated Monroe Pharmacy in Union, WV, for over 30 years. After retiring, Jim enjoyed working part time for Alderson Pharmacy and Fritz’s Pharmacy.

In 1962, he married his grade school sweetheart, Mary Coleman. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage. Together they had two daughters and a son. Jim was a lifelong member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder for many years. He was recognized for his faithful service by being named Elder Emeritus in 2012.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Sarah Salton (Robert) of Charlotte, NC, and Molly McMillion (David) of Lewisburg; son, James “Chip” Jr. (Adam Blum) of Berkeley, CA; five loving grandchildren, Walt (Emily), Mary Grace, Andrew, Coleman, and Samantha; and a new great-grandson soon to arrive.

Services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014, at 2 PM at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg with Dr. Rev. J. Dexter Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends at a reception following the services in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Old Stone Renovations Fund, c/o The Old Stone Church, 200 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901, or to a favorite charity.
