Emory Lee Bowyer, 74, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014, at
Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, WV, after a short illness.
Born May 4, 1940, in Hollywood, WV, he was a son of the late Hazel Bowyer Gillespie.
Mr. Bowyer was a member of Eakle Chapel United Methodist Church. He was past president of the White Sulphur Springs Rotary Club, past president of the former White Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the WVHVAC (West Virginia Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Contractors).
Mr. Bowyer was a co-owner of Bowyer Electric and Appliance store in White Sulphur Springs for 38 years. He was a licensed master electrician and contractor. He also retired from MeadWestvaco in 2002 with 37 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Jo Dowdy Bowyer, at home; and one daughter, Debbie Fogus of White Sulphur Springs.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 8, 2014, at 10 AM in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs with the Rev. Ed Vallandingham officiating.
Burial followed in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, VA.
Visitation was on Sunday, September 7, from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Eakle Chapel United Methodist Church, HC 69, Box 1875, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Pallbearers were Rick Richter, Julian Hoke, Keith Hoke, Lloyd Haynes, Marvin Wagner, Larry Dickson, Steve Wickline, Eddie Coleman, David Clinebell, and Tim Houdyshell.
Shanklin Funeral Home served the family.
