Sarah Ann West, 66, of Roanoke, VA, went to be with our Savior on Monday, May 5, 2014.
She was born June 11, 1947, to the late Maynard and Clara Harrah in Ronceverte, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sweet mother-in-law, Daphene West.
Sarah was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing at WVU. She continuously worked on furthering her education. Following her schooling, she had a long nursing career at Community Hospital and retired a as nurse manager from the VA Hospital in 2004.
After she retired, she worked part time as a home health nurse and taught nursing at Virginia Western Community College. She volunteered at the food pantry in Salem, VA, was a longtime member of Green Ridge Baptist Church and the Roanoke Valley Shag Club. She also volunteered at her daughters’ schools and was always involved in her grandchildren’s activities.
Left to cherish her fun-loving memory are her husband of 23 years, Don West; her daughters, Kristie Lipscomb and husband, Cary, Allison Anderson and husband, Chad, and Ashley Call and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Elle, Chase, Hailey, Trey, and SaraBeth; father-in-law, Lloyd West of Louisburg, NC; brother-in-law, Kenny West and wife, Jackie, of Emerald Isle, NC; her many friends, including best life-long friend, Angela Walton; and loving pet companion, Saddie.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM at Oakey’s North Chapel on Peters Creek on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
The memorial service will be conducted on Friday, May 9, at 2 PM at Green Ridge Baptist Church, 5521 Green Ridge Road, Roanoke, VA 24019, with the Rev. Greg Moser officiating.
The graveside service will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Thanks to all of those who loved, supported, prayed, and cared for her.
Her love, out-going personality, and zest for life will live on in all of those who knew and loved her.
