Robert C. Byrd Clinic (RCBC) has announced the addition of Meghan Pankey, DNP, APRN, FNP-C to the family medicine department.
Originally from Colorado, Pankey graduated with a BSN from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Following graduation, she worked in labor and delivery and home health care as an RN. After deciding to further her education, Pankey went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming in 2019 with her Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Having been born and raised in a small, rural, ranching town in Colorado, Pankey is finding the adjustment to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia to be a seamless transition. When asked about how she feels about the move, Pankey noted, “All of our family is back in Colorado, however, we have loved it out here. Maybe we will convince some of our family to move this way.”
Pankey is joined by her husband, Christopher Pankey, Ph.D. who has taken a faculty position at WVSOM and has a Ph.D. in biomedical science and teaches pathophysiology for reproduction and endocrinology.
While the couple has missed out on many of the social events that the Greenbrier Valley has to offer due to the pandemic they have still enjoyed the amazing outdoor life that the area has to offer. The pair have taken to the surrounding mountains this year, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and recently skiing. All of this outdoor fun has been accompanied by their 1.5-year-old golden retriever, Mikko who will be missing Meghan while she is here during the days at RCBC.
In addition to her responsibilities in the family medicine department, Pankey will also be seeing patients in the pediatrics department a couple of afternoons a week.
