This year, like many other nonprofit organizations, the Greenbrier Historical Society is shifting its annual fundraiser into a virtual event. Stellar Evening, normally celebrated the first Saturday in December, has transformed into a Stellar Evening at Home. There are still ways the community can support the preservation and sharing of history in the Greenbrier Valley as part of this event.
The Greenbrier Historical Society virtual silent auction opens on Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. and closes on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. There are many great items to bid on including a picnic basket stocked with goodies from Bella the Corner Gourmet and lunch from Blackwell’s Catering, lots of beautiful artwork, and numerous gift baskets that will make holiday shopping a breeze. Visit the auction online at www.32auctions.com/GreenbrierHist and place bids on your favorite items.
Community members can also support the Greenbrier Historical Society as well as two local Lewisburg restaurants on Saturday, Dec. 5. Enjoy dinner from The Humble Tomato or The French Goat, you can dine-in or order takeout. Mention “the Greenbrier Historical Society” and they will donate a portion of your bill to the historical society.
Executive Director, Nora Venezky says, “this has been a difficult year for many businesses and nonprofits and any support the community can provide is greatly appreciated. We have exciting exhibits and programs planned for next year and it is with your support that we are able to continue to make history come alive.” Donations can also be made to the Greenbrier Historical Society on their website www.greenbrierhistorical.org.
