The Game Changer initiative, which was conceived during an August 2018 meeting between West Virginia Secondary School Activities Executive Director Bernie Dolan, MVB Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Don Robinson and JB Business Strategies Owner Joe Boczek, celebrated the premiere of the program’s first live-streamed broadcast.
The Game Changer Virtual Summit aired on Monday, September 21, at 9 a.m., and was made available to approximately 600 middle schools and high schools across the state. The broadcast features live on-location performances from various parts of the country, by nationally-known trauma-informed speakers.
The summit is also hosted by Shaun Derik, a most entertaining and engaging emcee. After the initial air-date, the summit was then rebroadcast each morning of last week at 9 a.m. It has been made available on-demand as of Monday, September 28. The summit can be viewed by visiting wvgamechanger.com.
Game Changer is one of the largest public/private coalitions of it’s kind in the United States. The primary focus of the program was initially to address opioid and substance abuse disorders impacting the youth of West Virginia. However since its inception, the program has grown in both strength and scope, and now helps young people address numerous other issues and concerns they may be faced with in their daily lives.
West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is both the ‘head coach’ of the Game Changer initiative, as well as a huge supporter.
“As I’ve said many times, our kids in West Virginia are our greatest treasure. Our goal should always be to empower children to make healthy choices and become leaders in their communities,” the Governor said. “That’s exactly what the Game Changer Virtual Summit is going to do.”
Joe Boczek has said that he expects the summit to remain available on-demand for a limited-time of three to four weeks to allow flexibility with viewing options.
