RONCEVERTE (WVDN) – The splash pad at Ronceverte Island Park is getting close to being a reality. The pad was poured in November and will be completed in the spring when the water features are installed.
Water features include a barrel soaker which can be aimed and will shoot out water, a rain wand where water runs through the nodules like rain, and other features that squirt water or come up out of the pad for smaller children.
These feature pieces can be switched every year with a different piece, and it can change according to what are the most fun for the kids, the city announced. The water used in the splash pad is city water that will be treated and regenerated with filters and equipment much like a pool system. Mandatory training has been completed, and city crews will be taking samples several times a day to ensure quality safe water.
There will be a fence around the outer part of the splash pad.
City officials offered their thanks to Sen. Stephen Baldwin “for making this dream possible for the kids.”
“We are excited to get this completed in the spring and open the splash pad up for everyone to enjoy,” the city announced.
