Justin Scott Deeds (right) was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, September 23, by Chief Circuit Judge Jennifer P. Dent (left). Deems’ mother, Michelle (center), and father, Vince, were also in attendance for the ceremony.
“My life of dedication to public service began in 2015 when I became a member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department and this step is another progression in my commitment to public service,” Deeds said.
Sheriff Sloan commented, “Justin is certainly a welcome addition to our ranks. Although he will not be working independently until completion of his academy training and field training probationary period, he is going to be a tremendous asset to our department and the county. We look forward to his service with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and his continued commitment to public service for the citizens of Greenbrier County.”
The department anticipates additional deputy sheriff hires in the near future as they attempt to address existing staffing shortages.
The Sheriff’s department is also looking forward to welcoming back Corporal Billy Mitchell in October after a one year military deployment to Syria.
