WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS (WVDN) – It is starting to become a tradition, and it is one from which Greenbrier County benefits, as the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers are back at The Greenbrier resort this week for their east coast game schedule travel.

The Niners just defeated the Carolina Panthers 37-15 in Charlotte this past Sunday and play the Atlanta Falcons this coming weekend.

They landed at Greenbrier Valley Airport on Sunday night.

The idea for the franchise is to avoid coming to the east coast, flying back out west for five days, then coming all the way back to Atlanta. Accommodations to stay at The Greenbrier allows the jet lag and overall fatigue to be kept at a minimum.

San Francisco is believed this season to have arguably the top defense in all of football. Some notable big names on their roster are Deebo Samuels, Nick Bosa, Jimmy Garopollo, Brandon Aiyuk, Jeff Wilson, Jr. and Charvarius Ward, among others. The head coach is Kyle Shanahan.

They do not like to allow many points and that is a big reason their defense is hailed as one of the best. They are 3-2 on young season and have not allowed more than 19 points in any game.

They have won two in a row and look poised for a big year.

Since the Niners have started their east coast stay tour a few years back, they are 7-1 in the extended stay road-trips.

The Greenbrier and the entire county would like to see that continue this weekend. A little positivity from the resort is nothing but good news for the area.

The game against the Falcons this Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. and can be seen on FOX.
