PARKERSBURG 9wvdn)- The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission has released official football playoff ratings following week six. The top sixteen schools in each classification qualify for the postseason. Playoff games begin on Nov. 11 and 12 and culminate with the Super Six at Wheeling Island Stadium on Dec. 2 and 3.
Greenbrier West has moved up to the sixth spot following their 41-12 win over Class AA Shady Spring last Friday night. The Cavaliers have been on a steady climb since the ratings came out following the completion of week three games. The undefeated Cavaliers face another unbeaten in 11th rated James Monroe this Friday night. James Monroe’s Monday night win over Pikeview was not factored into their rating this week but will be included next Tuesday. Unofficial ratings at wvtailgatecentral.com show that the Mavericks would be 7th rated had their win over the Panthers been included. Midland Trail is 4-2 and tied for 18th. Summers County comes in at 24th with a 2-3 record.

In Class AAA, Woodrow Wilson is the highest rated area school coming in at number nine. The Flying Eagles are off to a solid 5-1 start, their best start since going 8-0 to begin the 2005 season. Princeton is tied for the 11th spot with a 3-1 record. The Greenbrier East Spartans have climbed into a four-way tie for 19th place following their 44-6 win over Hampshire County. The Spartans lock up with Oak Hill this Friday night. The Red Devils are one spot ahead of Greenbrier East, making this a crucial game for both teams if they want to climb into the top sixteen.
