Dear Recycle Lady,

What are SeaPods? I think they have something to do with coffee? A New One for Me

Dear A New One for Me,
In searching for an answer to your question, I found that there are currently three relatively new products with similar names: SeaPods, SEApods and Sealpods. I think the one you are referring to is the third choice, Sealpods, rather than SeaPods. According to www.sealpods.com, SealPods are an eco-friendly, reusable coffee capsule alternative that reduces your environmental footprint and keeps your health in check by brewing less through plastic. Sealpods were created by two sisters as a solution to the waste created by the 6 million disposable capsules that are used every day for making coffee. Some Sealpod, or SEAL POD, refillable coffee capsules are made of stainless steel, others are made of aluminum. They are all reusable and are entirely made of sustainable, eco-friendly materials.

The second product, SeaPods are a new, innovative creation. According to https://www.autoevolution.com, SeaPods are the world’s first eco-restorative floating house, the house of tomorrow. Grant Romundt, creator of the SeaPods, says the SeaPods look a lot like the house the Jetsons’ lived in and he expects to have a lot of fun with this futuristic theme. Romundt anticipates launching the first SeaPod on September 22, 2022, which is the 60th anniversary of the Jetsons’ airing. SeaPods are described as floating two-and-a half story houses with 830 square feet of highly sustainable, nonpolluting, living space. They feature a master bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and patio and have 1,250 cubic feet of storage space. These houses must be outside the hurricane zone and float a few kilometers off the coast. Each pod is loaded with amazing technology too numerous to mention. Sounds like a real fun adventure! For more information on these interesting houses, see https://en.hotel.report/technology/seapods-giving-a-new-meaning-to-ocean-front-living.

The third product, SEApods, according to https://vaping360.com, are one of the newer alternative JUUL pods. They available in “an entire Sea of new flavors.” Since this subject is not about recycling or the environment, no additional comments are needed.

Dear Readers,

The very first Dear Recycle Lady column appeared in the WV Daily News on September 18, 2018. Who knew that four years later I would still be writing about recycling and the environment and that it would be printed once a week in five newspapers. Many thanks for all the comments and questions I have received by email, phone, text, conversation, or purely by accident when researching your questions. I have truly enjoyed writing the weekly columns and doing the research required to find an answer. Please continue sending your questions, comments, and information. They make for a wide variety of diverse and interesting topics. Also, thanks to friends who edit the columns before publication, catching grammatical, or punctuation errors and perhaps suggesting a change in description. Also, thanks to the recycle guys who check on the accuracy of my information. This column is definitely a team effort and I appreciate all of you.

Join us next Friday morning, September 30, 2022, from 10:00 – 12:00 at the Recycle Center for interesting conversations, information, and questions. We would love to see you.
