CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — An entrepreneur who has worked in manufacturing, energy and banking has been sworn into the West Virginia Legislature to take over the seat of a delegate who left to become one of the governor’s advisers.

Republican Andrew Anderson of Charleston became the newest member of the West Virginia House of Delegates on Wednesday, a House spokesperson said.

Anderson will represent the 35th District to complete the unexpired term of former Republican Del. Larry Pack of Kanawha County. The district currently includes the southwestern part of Kanawha County: South Charleston, Dunbar, Jefferson and St. Albans.

Anderson was appointed to the seat by Republican Gov. Jim Justice after being recommended by the Kanawha County Republican Executive Committee. He has filed with the Secretary of State’s office to run against Democratic Del. Kayla Young in the new 56th district in the November election.

Anderson has nearly 20 years of business and industry experience in manufacturing, energy, and banking, and currently serves as a Business Development Officer for Cooperative Business Services, according to a press release.

Anderson is from Cross Lanes, and graduated from the Kanawha County public school system. He has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University.
