LEWISBURG (WVDN) – The General Andrew Lewis Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held their June meeting at Cooks Restaurant on June 16.
Regent Deborah Phillips presided. Member Ruth Sturgill presented an interesting article on national defense, and a report on the flag of the United States was given by Suzanne Cronquist.
The club welcomed new member, Barbara Hiltner, and she was presented with her membership pin.
Several awards were presented by the National Society to the local chapter. Former regent Sandra Brandon Cowan was awarded for Outstanding Service as the West Virginia State DAR Librarian and for her Outstanding Service on the Virtual 116th WVDAR State Conference Committee.
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s service organization whose main objectives are historic preservation, education and patriotism.
Members are all lineal descendants of those who supported the cause of independence in the Revolutionary War in 1776. If you are interested in joining, Cowan at 304-497-3553.
