The Greenbrier Valley Youth Mountain Bike Team will hold two meetings for families interested in the upcoming mountain bike season. Meetings will take place Sunday, June 12, at 3 p.m. and Thursday, June 16, at 6 p.m. Both meetings will convene at the Greenbrier State Forest at the picnic tables near the shelters and playground.
Youth entering sixth through 12th grade are eligible to participate. Practices, which begin in July, are held at the Greenbrier State Forest and include basic on-the-bike skills training as well as single track trail riding. All skill levels are welcome, and racing is not a requirement of participation.
Interest meeting attendees will learn about the WV Interscholastic Cycling League, league culture and rules, requirements of participation, practices, and race weekend details. The Greenbrier Valley team, beginning its fourth season with the league, is one of 16 teams located throughout the state.
Following each interest meeting, families are invited to join the coaching staff for a community trail ride. This ride is not at NICA sanctioned event and participants should ride at their own risk.
