CHARMCO (WVDN) – The West Virginia Sports Writers Association has released both the girls and boys All State teams following the conclusion of both state tournaments this past Saturday.
Preslee Treadway was a Class A Honorable Mention selection following her freshman season. Treadway participated in eighteen games after her recovery from off-season surgery and helped lead the Cavaliers to the Region III co-final. She paid dividends to the Cavaliers immediately. Treadway exploded out of the gate with three double-doubles and tallied eight such games on the season. Treadway’s season-high 22 points came in her fourth game, a 79-25 victory over Richwood. Treadway’s season-best 15 rebounds came in a narrow, two-point loss at home to Liberty Harrison. Treadway had eleven double-digit scoring and rebounding games. Treadway was the first Greenbrier West All-State selection since Julie Agee earned the designation following the 2019-20 season.
Chase McClung garnered 2nd Team Captain honors for his 2021-22 hoops campaign. McClung set career highs in points-per-game with 16.2 and three-pointers with 55. Both marks led the Cavaliers. On three different occasions, Chase set new career-highs for points in a game. Chase’s high mark was 34 points at Webster County late in the season. Overall, Chase had 21 double-digit scoring games and helped lead a 15-win season that culminated in the Region III co-final. Chase ended his Cavalier career with an overall record of 65-28, one sectional championship, two regional championships, and two state tournament appearances. Chase is the first Greenbrier West 2nd team captain since Chris Rudd grabbed the honor following the 1997-98 season.
Braydon McClung, younger brother of Chase, did not ride the coattails of his brother’s success. Braydon notched 16 double-digit scoring efforts and averaged 13.4 points-per-contest. Braydon had back-to-back games in which he set then exceeded his single-game scoring record. In a win over Class AA #4 Williamstown in the Par Mar Stores Shootout, Braydon led the Cavaliers with 24 points. In the West Virginia Hometown Invitational 3rd place game, Braydon set his high mark with 25 points in the win over East Hardy. Braydon led the team in made free-throws with 85 and free-throw percentage at 75.2%. Braydon was also a force to be reckoned with defensively as he tied Chase for the team lead in steals with 96. Braydon was the first sophomore Cavalier to earn All-State honors since Noah Midkiff in 2016-17.
