A Greenbrier County man was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, November 17 after allegedly stealing a lawn mower. Bobby Milton Bennett III, 29, of Charmco has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, entering without breaking and grand larceny.
On the morning of Thursday, October 21, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported theft at a Mill Creek Road residence in the Hines area. Once on scene, officers were advised by the victim that “sometime during the night someone had went into her garage and stole her riding lawn mower.”
The victim further advised that the garage had been closed, but was not locked. The victim provided officers with a purchase receipt for the lawn mower, showing it’s value to be $6,500.00.
At approximately 11 a.m., a man (later identified as Bobby Milton Bennett III) wearing a red sweatshirt was seen riding the mower up Big Mountain Road in the Marfrance area. Officers responded to the area and located the stolen lawn mower parked behind an abandoned Lab Lane residence. Officers then travelled to Bennett’s nearby residence. Although Bennett was not there, officers located a similar red sweatshirt.
Bobby Milton Bennett III is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail. However, as a result of a charge out of Fayette County for violating a protective order, Bennett is not currently eligible to be released.
