Whether we like it or not, it seems that Mother Nature has decided it is time to bring the cold weather to us. With that being said, it does bring about the cold weather events that the men like – hunting season, along with the blaze orange and camouflage. The men will begin the regimen of gun cleaning, target practice, and ammunition buying or reloading (some of these may have already been done). Then we will have the anticipation and discussion of where the hunt will be until the day(s) of the hunt. Ladies, be not dismayed, there are things for you to do also, such as on Thursday, Nov. 11 beginning at 4-7 pm., there will be an “Old Fashioned Christmas Open House” located at 1712 Valley Ridge Rd in Covington, Virginia if you are in need of a day out. This event is hosted by Crafty Ladies and Friends, for a fun, old fashioned Christmas celebration, and the craft shop where it is held contains primitive furniture & home décor, handworks, fabric, jewelry, etc. On Nov. 12 @ 10 a.m. Carnegie Hall will be hosting a class “How to Make Soap for Beginners”, (seems like a cool Christmas gift). On Nov. 13 @ 10 a.m. and Nov. 14 beginning @ 5 p.m. there will be a “Christmas Open House” hosted by Tattered & Worn Antiques – Primitives that is open to everyone. There will be sales throughout the shop and vendors will have special discounts at their booths.
